Cappadocia has an incomparable reputation for two reasons: the hot air balloons that speckle the sky during dusk and dawn, and the cave hotels. I mean, who has stayed in a CAVE before? Previous to this experience, I had done a few unique Airbnb stays, but I had never been in an accommodation as cool as the ones that Cappadocia offers. If you’ve finally booked that oh-so-coveted plane ticket to this historical region and you are looking for a little help figuring out where to stay, check out the coolest cave hotels to date. Instead of just choosing the most luxurious cave hotels, I’m highlighting my favorites for each category.
Gleaming against the night sky with accentuating golden lights, this quaint stay stands out in my head whenever I think of a quality, affordable option in Cappadocia. Averaging somewhere between $67 and $97 a night for 2 adults and approximately $143 per night for a family of 4 during peak season, you can’t beat the prices of this accommodation. Guests can look forward to enjoying a continental breakfast if they opt for it during the booking process, and can even take a dip in the swimming pool if they would like to (a rare amenity in this area!). In addition, when it comes to location, the Balloon Cave Hotel is a mere 1 mile away from the Goreme Open-Air Museum and 1.8 miles away from the Uchisar Castle. If you are looking for a traditional cave stay without breaking the bank, this is the first place I would browse!
If this is the first time you’re seeing a photo of a traveler relaxing by the pool in the heart of this accommodation, I must say I am truly shocked. From the most experienced, Instagram famous travelers down to the typical tourists, it seems as though one of the first pictures that comes up on a Google search when learning about Cappadocia is this famous hotel-and the famous pool! Guests at the Local Cave House have rated this stay a 9.4/10 because of the exceptional location, friendly staff, clean and pristine pool, and the view! While this stay is not as cheap compared to other options in the area, it tallies up to approximately $150-$200 per night during peak season.
Were you not thinking about the Local Cave House, but the OTHER famous hotel? The extensive property with the soaking tubs and pools in the rooms? If so, odds are you were thinking about the Museum Hotel. This is one of the most luxurious, expensive stays in the area, and there is no doubt that it’s worth EVERY PENNY! The easiest way to understand the experience that this hotel can offer is to look through the pictures located above, but it is also significant to note that guests have raved since this hotel opened its doors about the poolside bar, cooked-to-order traditional Turkish breakfast, and spa treatments. Past travelers have rated the cleanliness of the bedrooms and shared amenities a 4.8/5 which means you can trust everything to be in pristine condition. Because of all the unique features this property has to offer, especially compared to many of the other cave hotels, the average stay at the Museum Hotel is anywhere from $500 to $800 per night, depending on when you plan on staying.
THIS HOTEL IS AMAZING!! No, seriously. When planning our trip to Cappadocia, Dorian and I knew that we wanted to spend a few nights in a more luxurious accommodation that was within a fair budget and this was the one we ultimately chose. To this day, we both agree that this was one of the best places we ever stayed! From the second we walked on to the property, we were greeted by some of the friendliest staff members as our bags were briskly carried to our room. As we filled out final paperwork, we were given traditional Turkish tea and enjoyed a little chat with the hotel manager.
Once arriving at our room, we were given a little tour and were STUNNED by our room’s private outdoor space. The 3-tiered deck took room 101 from a 9/10 to a 10/10. On the first tier, guests could sit on handcrafted wooden benches and feast on a traditional Turkish breakfast as the sun came up. The second tier, our favorite, featured a four person hot tub and deck space to put a bottle of wine, snacks, and towels. The third and final tier had two simple, comfortable lounge chairs that overlooked the crème de la crème of the exterior- the valley view. We also had the opportunity to revel in a multi-course dinner at the Taskonaklar Hotel Cappadocia’s beautiful restaurant. If you’re looking to mimic our experience, you can rest assured knowing that the average ticket price for this hotel room is approximately $300 a night during peak season.
While cleanliness, amenities, and phenomenal food are some aspects at the top of every list when looking for a great accommodation, we can’t forget about location. If you love to shop and try local cuisine, the Zara Cave Hotel is where you want to be. Located directly next to Soffy’s Kitchen, Haruna Restaurant, and Pumpkin Restaurant and across the street from the most famous rug store in all of Cappadocia, Galerie Ä°kman, you can’t go wrong. The Zara Cave Hotel has also gotten exceptional ratings from couples who give an overall stay score of 9.9. With the average cost being $127 a night during peak season, you can’t go wrong with the perfect location and affordable price!

These types of accommodations are becoming increasingly popular, as travelers look for unique and interesting places to stay. Cave hotels can be found in many different parts of the world, but they are especially prevalent in Cappadocia, Turkey.
